Key research interests

Research areas include

1)     The role of growth factors and sex steroids         for pubertal growth and development,
2)     The effect of intrauterine growth retardation         on postnatal growth and reproduction,
3)     Relation between IGF-I, reproductive         hormones and adult lifestyle diseases,
4)     Testosterone levels in adolescents and adult         males, and the definition of hypogonadism         at all ages,
5)     Klinefelter syndrome,
6)     Genetic polymorphisms and association to         testicular function,
7)     Timing and regulation of normal puberty and         its disorders,
8)     Endocrine disrupting chemicals and their         influence on endogenous hormones in         children and adults

External and professional activities

Secretary of Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) (1998-05). Chairman of the Endocrine Committee in Danish Paediatric Society (1998-04). Coordinator of several research networks and consortia. Editorial Board on Eur J Endocrinol (1999-2004) and Best Practice and Research Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism  (2009-). Assistant Editor on International Growth Monitor. Referee on more than 10 different journals. Teacher and organizer of several postgraduate courses, including official A-course in pediatric endocrinology (2000-06). Member of Therapeutic Use Exemption Committee (Anti-Doping Denmark), Member of ESPE Research Fellow-ship Grant Committee. Member of review boards on 13 PhD and doctoral theses.
