The Copenhagen Mother-Child Cohort

This large longitudinal study was initiated in 1996. More than 2000 pregnant women from the Copenhagen area were included. Their children were investigated at several time points during early infancy (at birth and at 3, 6, 18 and 36 months of age). In childhood, about 900 of the children were re-examined at 4-9 years of age. Currently, a pre-pubertal follow up of the girls in the study is ongoing.

For details on the clinical examinations, samples collected as well as  clinical biochemistry and analytical chemistry carried out until now, please see the column to the left.

Inclusion Criteria

All female participants of the original cohort are invited to participate in the pre-pubertal follow-up

Ethical aspects

The study was approved by ethical committees of the Capital Region (RegionH) and in accordance with the Helsinki II declaration. All children and their parents gave informed consent to participate in the study.
