The Department in brief The Department of Growth and Reproduction was established in March 1990. The Department was founded to treat boys and girls with problems concerning their growth, development of sexual organs and puberty, as well as to study and treat adult men with testicular dysfunction or infertility.
The intent of the department's founders was to establish a center for research into the normal and pathological processes that affect growth and reproduction. Areas of research include: the precursor stage of testicular cancer, prevention of testis cancer and research into illnesses as well as environmental and lifestyle factors that impair growth, development and the function of testicles.
The majority of the necessary testing is performed in the department's own laboratory facilities. These include hormone, cell biology, molecular biology, and analytical chemistry laboratories. The department's team works closely with a number of other departments from within and outside of the Copenhagen University Hospital in research and patient care. |
