The Department of Growth and Reproduction, located at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Den-mark, represents a University Hospital Unit with multidisciplinary research, where treatment of patients goes hand in hand with science. We treat patients with for example reduced growth, precocious or delayed puberty, and genetic di-seases affecting steroidogenesis like congenital adrenal hyperplasia or DAX-1 mutations, men with poor semen quality or reduced testosterone production. The department is the tertiary referral unit centre for paediatric endocrinology and andrology. Scientific questions raised in the clinic are directly translated into research projects within the department, involving our molecular lab, the histo- and cytolab, and the labs doing hormone and chemical analysis. Across the labs, physicians, molecular and human biologists, biotechnicians, chemists, statisticians and epidemiologists carry out research projects involving often large population cohorts. The department’s team works closely with a number of other departments from within and outside of the Copenhagen University Hospital in research and patient care.
